Grade 1-4 of Primary Schools in Deyang will Re-open on May 6

Secondary and primary schools in Deyang have reopened gradually since April 1, firstly senior grade 3, followed by other grades. Yesterday (April 27), the Education Bureau of Deyang notified that grades 1-4 of primary schools are to resume classes on May 6. The notice also scheduled the summer break and the dates of the Senior High School Entrance Examination.

To effectively ensure the safety and health of teachers and students, in line with requirements set out by the Education Department of Sichuan Province and in light of current pandemic developments, the Bureau decided that primary school grades 1 to 4 and special education schools are to open on May 6, while offline training classes at off-campus training institutions are to start no earlier than May 6. Kindergartens will be subject to further notice.

In addition, summer break has been adjusted accordingly. It will start on July 13 for primary schools, July 20 for junior high and general senior high schools, and no later than July 20 for secondary vocational schools. The dates of the Senior High School Entrance Examination, in principle, will be scheduled after the National College Entrance Examination, while the work regarding the graduating classes of primary schools will be fully completed by early July.

   Furthermore, according to a notice issued by the provincial education department on April 24, colleges and universities in Sichuan may reopen starting from May 6 by batch or by staggering dates to avoid peaks. (Reporter: Wang Shanshan)
